How to embed a Google Slides Presentation into a shopify blog post?

Topic summary

The original question asks how to embed a Google Slides presentation into a Shopify blog post to share webinar materials alongside YouTube videos.

Solution provided:

  • Obtain the embed code from Google Slides via File > Share > Publish to web > Embed
  • In Shopify admin, edit the blog article and click the “Show HTML” button (</> icon)
  • Paste the iframe code directly into the HTML editor
  • Optional: Add CSS styling like style="width: 100%;min-height: 50vh;" for better display

Troubleshooting case:
One user encountered issues embedding on a page (not blog post). The problem was resolved by:

  1. Ensuring the code was pasted in “Show HTML” mode (not visual editor)
  2. Changing the page template from custom to “Default”

Alternative solutions mentioned:

  • OkSlides service for format conversion and sharing
  • EmbedAny app (supports 800+ platforms) - allows embedding by simply pasting links and formatting them as italic text in product/page descriptions

The discussion confirms the native Google Slides embed method works successfully when properly implemented in Shopify’s HTML editor.

Hey there Shopify buddies,

How can we post a Google Slides presentation or embed it into a Shopify Blog Post?

We want to share not only our YouTube Video but the Slides (presentation) from a recent webinar with our customers

cheers

Should not be a problem mate.

First, get the embed code for your document (as per https://support.google.com/docs/answer/183965)

  1. Open a file in Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides.
  2. At the top, click File > Share > Publish to web.
  3. In the window that appears, click Embed.
  4. Choose a publishing option:
  • Spreadsheet: Choose to publish the entire spreadsheet or individual sheets.
  • Presentation: Choose a presentation size and how quickly to change the slides.
  1. Click Publish.
  2. Copy the HTML in the text box and paste it into your site or blog.

To perform the last step you’d need to go to your Shopify admin, edit the article content, click the “Show HTML” button (looks like </> – rightmost of the editor buttons) and then paste the code where you see fit.
You may add some basic styles like so:

This didnt work on my site. What should i do?

@SP10 – Share a link to the page where you’ve tried to embed the slides.

Hmm.
Are there other page templates available in your theme to try using them?

Looks like you’ve added the code to your page, but the template simply does not show it?

but the template does not refer to it.

Maybe you need to change something in Customize, like set some dynamic sources in section properties – not familiar with your theme.

No there are no other page types other than a “Contact” page. You are correct, it is not showing. I am familiar with using Shopify as I had a business years ago and I did the site. I know how to use html coding a bit but not much. Are you able to look at the code and see if anything is preventing it on the back end of the template from showing please? Also could you please delete your above snip, that is a pitch deck that we do not want others to be able to see. I am creating the page but it will not be visible on the site.

Yeah, I can have a look at the code. Looks like I am no longer able to edit the message myself, but I’ve notified moderator – hope they will be able to remove the address/entire post.

Sorry for this.

No worries. Could you please send a request to login and i will approve

  1. You need to paste the code not just into page content, but after you’ve switched into “Show HTML” mode via <> button. If you do it right, you will be able to see the actual contents of your presentation in editor. If you see your HTML code if you’re not in “Show HTML” mode, then you’ve done it wrong.

  2. I’ve changed the the page template to “Default” and now it shows on frontend more or less properly.

I see it’s an old question, but I hope my suggestion will help. I use different presentations for work and sometimes have to send them to our partners via email and various programs. At first, I couldn’t do it due to the different formats demanded, and conversion sometimes damaged and mixed up slides. However, I found a solution on Okslides. This site offers you a lot of different formats to choose from and lets you download/send it anywhere needed. I’ve been using it for several months and admit that my work was much more complicated before discovering this app. I hope it’s also helpful for you

Hi @Dermott_Dowling

You may embed both YT videos and Google Slides through a single app. EmbedAny also supports 800+ platforms.

Copy your YT video or Google Slides link.

Paste it in your blog post editor and make it italic.

save and preview changes.

The outcome is supposed to be:

You may embed YT video links in the same way.
The app link is: Embed Any Social Media w/ Link - Embed Interactive Content on Shopify | Shopify App Store
