Organic methods:

  1. Run Free Google Shopping Ads - This has a very simple set up, sign up for Google merchant center, install the google & youtube app on shopify, connect your store to google merchant center (this will automatically create a product feed for you) and then navigate to ‘free listings’ on GMC and enable it.

  2. On-page SEO - Work on the SEO of your product listing pages so they can organically rank on Google. This will help customers find your products easily. Include high volume, low keyword difficulty keywords in product tiles, descriptions, meta title / description, etc. There are many keyword tools available, research some free ones.

  3. Creating blogs - With the same keywords you can also create blogs around the topics you find. Again, this will help with boosting your domain (website) and help with your product pages ranking higher.

Paid methods:

  1. Run Google Shopping Ads - Google Shopping Ads have a paid version as well, and yes paid ads always have a better chance of bringing in sales. For this you need a Google merchant center account, a google ads account, a product feed app (I recommend AdNabu, it will aid with the listings and your product feed) or the google & youtube app from Shopify.

  2. Run ads on other platforms - There are other ad platforms like Meta (FB and Instagram), TikTok, Bing, Pinterest, etc. Again, the process is simple. You need a product feed app, or you can find the relevant ad platforms’ app on the Shopify app store and follow the instructions there. I once again recommend AdNabu, as it will allow you to create product feeds for all the platforms listed, making it easier to manage.

There are loads of other features within the ad platforms as well. For example, for Google Ads, you can retarget customers who expressed an interest in your products but did not complete the purchase. You can use a retargeting pixel to automatically create a list of these customers. Facebook ads have a Lookalike audiences targeting option, targeting customers with similar characteristics to your existing customers or a specific audience.
