Hi
we sell fabric and offer free samples. We are finding that some customers are ordering 30-50 and its a bit crazy! I would like to limit the amount they can order free, say 4-6 and charge a small amount if they want more.
I’ve asked Shopify support and they recommended these apps,
Automatic Discounts & Gifts.
Bulk Discounts
Sale & Discount manager
I can’t see that any of these will help me with this issue - anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Rebecca
@creamcornwall Yes I don’t think any of those do what you want. I guess the Shopify person didn’t understand your requirement.
Looks like this app will do what you are after though https://apps.shopify.com/order-limits-minmaxify
Thanks so much, this is great. it looks perfect,
Rebecca
Note most of the those max apps only try to prevent per ORDER, so customers using multiple emails or different addresses is a common issue with free items.
And they may not work with javascript disabled, or some adblock software.
This is more relevant if your store/business/industry has a community following or ecosystem where talking about how to get free items is common.
An alternative is to be sure to have a shipping rate minimum, or a shipping rate just for that free item above normal , so it would then seem to make more sense to potential abusers to also just buy another item to get a different shipping rate, or for the total shipping rate of all items to make sense economically than just getting something “free”.
yes, I can see that. I think the shipping is the solution, make it expensive if it goes over the free number of items.
Thanks for that, really useful,
Rebecca
