How to link Facebook commerce account despite in-app checkout error?

Help, I keep getting this message when trying to set up my facebook link… “We couldn’t delete your current Facebook Commerce Account because it has enabled in-app checkout for Instagram or Facebook Marketplace”

Hey, @Angie8418 !

This is Moira from the Social Care team at Shopify. Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your Facebook setup. It’s great to see you are wanting to utilize this marketing tool to help promote and showcase your wonderful products on social media!

When you deactivate your commerce account, you remove it and all Shops connected to your account. Your Facebook Pages, Instagram profiles, catalog, ad, and business accounts will no longer be connected to your commerce account. May I ask why you are trying to delete your current Commerce Manager? Do you have multiple commerce accounts that you are trying to connect? If you could please reply to this thread with more context, I’ll be able to help you out further.

You can only deactivate your commerce account if:

  • Your customers don’t check out directly through Facebook or Instagram.

  • You have a Shop with Checkout on Facebook or Instagram and have never received an order through Facebook or Instagram’s onsite checkout.

The error message you are receiving when trying to delete your commerce account means you have a checkout method enabled as mentioned above, which is preventing you from deactivating your commerce account. You can read more about this via Facebook’s help guide below:

TIP: If you run into any further issues with Facebook or Instagram, we have a fantastic community forum post right here with steps on how to fix any current known issues for the Facebook channel. I’d also highly recommend looking into Facebook Blueprint where you can discover online learning courses, training programs, and certifications that can help you get the most out of Facebook marketing platforms.

I look forward to hearing from you!
