How to regenerate API key and password for my App

Hello!

We have set up a private app on Shopify. We would like change regenerate our API key and password. However when I navigate to Apps > Sales Channel Settings > Develop Apps > click my app I can see my API key and the password with no options to regenerate them. I only see an option to copy the keys.

I have contacted Shopify support on how to do this but they replied with that “they have limited knowledge on how API system works.” Shouldn’t this be as simple as clicking a button somewhere? Does Shopify not allow regenerating a api key once its been set? Any help would be appreciated.

I’d recommend reviewing this guide on building sales channel apps. One of the requirements of a sales channel is that it must be a public app rather than the private type you’ve mentioned. For apps created from a merchant’s Admin, this help doc highlights the steps to retrieve the API credentials. Otherwise, you’ll need to authentication the app using OAuth as noted in this table.
