How to set a minimum order quantity for a specific product?

Topic summary

A merchant selling event tickets needs to enforce a minimum purchase of 2 tickets per order. Their current workaround—creating a single product representing 2 tickets—risks confusing customers about the per-ticket price.

Desired Solution:

  • List tickets as individual products
  • Set minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 2
  • Display warning if customer attempts to purchase only 1 ticket

Recommended App:
The MultiVariants - Bulk Order app was suggested, offering:

  • Minimum quantity restrictions on specific products
  • Warning messages when minimum isn’t met
  • Quantity intervals (e.g., customers can only add in multiples of 2: 2, 4, 6, 8)
  • Additional features for bundles, maximum limits, and variant-level controls

The app includes a 3-day trial with customer support. Sample products and store examples were provided demonstrating the quantity interval functionality in action.

Greetings!

I need an app that can set a minimum order quantity on one specific product.

I am selling tickets to an event, where you have to buy two tickets.

My solution so far is to just made one product which acts as a ticket for two. However from the customers point of view, the price could be mistaken for the price of one ticket, which looks very expensive.

I would rather have a product that is one ticket, but set a MOQ for the product of two tickets.

Any suggestions? - Either in terms of a MOQ app or a “warning app” where i can set the trigger for the warning to fire if the customer tries to order only one ticket?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @Jesper_Skaane_B , Have you got the solution? If not, then you can try theMultiVariants - Bulk order app.

You need to create a product for a ticket in Shopify. Using the MultiVariants app, you can set a limit of a minimum quantity on this product. So, If your customer needs to place the order, they must choose 2 quantities of tickets for going to the cart page. If they don’t choose the minimum quantity, a warning message will be shown on the product page as well. Also, you can set the quantity interval as 2. By doing this, whenever the customer adds quantities, it will be increased by multiple of 2. For example, it’ll be increasing like 2,4,6,8 etc. You can set this type of restriction on a single product or a specific group of products also.

Additionally, through this app, you can apply restrictions for minimum-maximum quantities, predefined bundles, interval quantities, limits on variants, and orders that can be achieved.

You’ll get 3 days of trial along with great customer support for exploring all other features.

Here is the Sample product where the customer must choose 12 quantities from different variants before going to the cart page and the quantities interval is set a 3. Also, here is the Sample store with more available features.
