Hi there, has anyone successfully setup Offline conversion tracking with the Shopify POS? We are specifically looking to connect Meta and Google Ads to attribute our advertising efforts to in person sales. Thanks!
Topic summary
The discussion centers on connecting Shopify POS (point-of-sale) data to advertising platforms like Meta Ads and Google Ads to attribute in-person sales to online marketing efforts.
Proposed Solutions:
- Census: A third-party tool that syncs conversion data from databases (Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery) to ad platforms along with customer identifiers
- Captain Conversions: A Shopify app designed to send POS order data to Meta/Facebook via the Offline Conversions API
Key Challenge:
One participant questions how offline conversion tracking functions without first-party data (customer name, email, phone number) collected at the point of sale, asking whether sales teams must manually input this information.
Current Status:
The Captain Conversions app is temporarily unavailable from the Shopify App Store while undergoing updates due to API changes from Meta and Shopify, but is expected to return soon. The original poster’s question about finding a working solution remains unanswered, leaving the discussion open.
Census offers a good solution for this. If you have these conversions in a database like Postgres/MySQL or a data warehouse like BigQuery etc., then you can pass the transactions along with customer identifiers to the ad platforms.
Hi @nategraham ![]()
We created a public app specifically to send POS order data to Meta/ Facebook via the offline conversions API https://apps.shopify.com/captain-conversions
Can you explain how this works without 1st party data in the POS like name, email, phone number etc? Or do our sales teams have to input that data to make this work?
Thanks!
Have you found a good solution for this Nate?
Reviving an old thread. @shuleGoing Your app seems to be not available on the Shopify app store. Is this still running?
Hi there, we are currently making some updates due to API changes from Meta and Shopify and the application will be live again soon. Thank you
