A merchant is unable to delete a customer’s information from Shopify due to associated “Personal Orders.” Despite unfulfilling and canceling the orders, the deletion is still blocked—no delete order button appears.

This workaround addresses GDPR/privacy deletion requests when orders prevent standard customer removal.

One of our customers requested us to delete their information from Shopify. However, when we clicked ‘Delete Customer’ - it said it can’t be deleted because the customer has ‘Personal Orders’. We unfulfilled and canceled the orders(we can’t see delete order button).
Can you please advise on this?

You can remove customer from those orders and then try again customer deletion, it should work fine.
On the right side of order page, you will see customer, clicking 3 dots will give you option to remove customer from the order
