I recently made a purchase from brightkins.shopify.com. I ordered a Kawasaki Ninja bike for INR 800. However, instead of the bike, I received a small toy car which would cost around 50 rupees. This is a clear scam. The website is still active, and I need help getting my money back.
Topic summary
Multiple customers in India report being scammed by brightkins.shopify.com, a fraudulent store selling toys and products at suspiciously low prices (typically INR 799-800). Victims ordered items like Kawasaki Ninja bikes, humidifiers, busy boards, and toy sets but received cheap toys worth approximately INR 50 or boxes filled with newspapers instead.
Key Red Flags Identified:
- Unfinished homepage with Gmail contact instead of professional domain
- Operating on Shopify subdomain rather than custom domain
- Prices too good to be true
- Chinese text-heavy images indicating dropshipping
- Cash on delivery payment method
Recommended Actions:
- Report the merchant to Shopify as fraud: https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-merchant
- Contact bank for refund (though difficult with cash on delivery)
- Provide evidence to Shopify support
Current Status:
The scam remains unresolved and ongoing. The store reportedly rebranded as “HUGGLEE” while maintaining the same fraudulent practices. Multiple victims express frustration that Shopify hasn’t shut down the operation despite numerous reports spanning several months. Police action is considered unlikely to help.
Hi @Prem_473849
Welcome to the community and sorry to hear you got scammed. And as you said it is a clear scam, and it have so many red flags but you clearly had faith in that merchant. But to be real, what is a real price of that bike, like INR 10.000? It does sound like too good to be true to be just for INR 800? Plus you see the homepage is unfinished, contact is just gmail and it does not have a proper domain, but it is on a Shopify subdomain. Maybe only 5% or real businesses uses that subdomain rest are either development shops or scams.
Now for a refund, that sounds hard to achieve, as they used cash on delivery.
What you should to is report a merchant here
https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-merchant
under Fraud, so Shopify can close that store.
There are a few similar topics like yours, mostly in India, same theme, same cash on delivery, same toys or old clothes. Nothing you can do there, I guess police will not do much, You may get sender address maybe but probably fake.
Again, sorry to hear you got scammed, stay safe.
@Vi-WizzCommerce dude, really, could you post more links ![]()
And it is a clear scam, you should know that part and not “probably mistake”.
Hi, just out of curiosity and for my own understanding—would you mind sharing a photo of what you received? When I check the product listed for 799 on their website, it looks like a toy motorcycle to me. Or did you receive something even smaller than that?
Also, just as a quick side note from my experience in advertising: when you come across websites that use a lot of text-heavy, chinese text on images, gimmicky images, it’s often a red flag that the products are being dropshipped from China. I’d recommend avoiding purchases from those kinds of sites. Many of them sell low-quality items, and in some cases, even the merchant might not realize what’s being sent out if the supplier is faking listings.
That’s a good point, a lot of merchants can’t know what suppliers are sending. But both merchant and customer can check images. Like you said, it is clear dropshipping so with one click image can be searched with Google and that returns a lot of links with prices you can compere. Especially when price look suspicious.
I mean, there’s always a small chance that it was a mistake by the merchant or a technical issue. Why would I say something with certainty if I don’t have all the details?
And yes, I can post more links! Let me know if you want to see them ![]()
I have already attached the delivered items pic on the same pdf
What action did you took, did you get your refund ?
For security reasons, I don’t download files from the community. If you could add the image in the post itself, that would be great.
@EmmanuelFlossie , here you go
That is absolutely a fake product. I recommend you first contact your bank and ask for a refund, assuming the merchant is not responding to you.
Then get in contact with Shopify support and provide them with evidence about the situation. They will take appropriate action.
Hi, same thing also happened to me

You can and should report it as Fraud on
https://www.shopify.com/legal/tools/report-an-issue/report-a-merchant
and then maybe Shopify can know about it and act and close store.
