I had already entered the weight of the parcel for EACH of my products

Topic summary

A merchant is frustrated with Shopify’s new mandatory package type and weight feature for physical products. They have already included parcel packaging weight in the individual product weights for their 2000+ listings, making this new feature redundant for their workflow.

Key Issues:

  • The feature cannot be disabled or opted out of
  • Implementing it would require updating all 2100+ product listings
  • The merchant has spent over an hour dealing with this unwanted change

Current Status:

  • The merchant devised their own workaround solution
  • They’re considering using a bot to make bulk edits or questioning why Shopify’s AI can’t assist with mass updates
  • The discussion remains unresolved, with the merchant expressing frustration about forced feature adoption without flexibility for existing workflows

Yet another post about the new package type section for physical products. I just realized that I already calculated the rate of the parcel packaging with EACH of the 2000+ products I have listed as part of the item rate. I do NOT need this feature. However, I can NOT turn it off. WHAT A PILE OF CRAP. SHOPIFY, NOT ALL OF YOUR “GREAT” IDEAS ARE NEEDED. Anyhow, I devised a solution to this GARBAGE but I wasted more than an hour with this WASTE OF TIME. Shopify, y’all owe me $300. That’s my consultation fee for dealing with this added feature that I NEVER ASKED FOR. Please Zelle it to me [email removed] info@stickfiguredistro.com

Yeah, I am being a little rude but I don’t appreciate having my time wasted like this. I did NOT ask for the package type & weight feature. I already configured my 2100+ listings where the weight of the parcel is entered with the item weight. I should have the option to turn this feature OFF until I am ready to implement it for ALL 2100+ items for sale. To make this work I have to get my own bot to make the edits for my. Or better yet, why can’t I use Shopify’s AI to make these edits quickly?
