I want to delete account after trial to get shop name on buisness acount

Hello, I’m trying to delete my account I used my personal email for. I had a little play before doing things properly on my business email. I would just leave the account there idle but I have the shop name I want to use on the account I won’t be using and want to free this up.

How can I delete the account it wont let me do anything once I log in - just wants me to pick a plan. I cant just change the email address as i have everything set up ready to go almost on that email on a separate account.

Hi there @gecko2 . I’m happy to help you out with this! I just have a few questions to make sure I give you the most accurate information. When you say your “shop name” do you mean your custom domain, your .myshopify.com domain, or the store name itself?

When you start an account with Shopify you are given a domain ending in .myshopify.com based on the store name you sign up with. For example, if your store name is “Tshirt store” your .myshopify.com domain will be “tshirtstore.myshopify.com”. This is the domain customers can use to access your online store. It’s not possible to change the .myshopify.com domain associated with your account once it’s created and once a .myshopify.com domain is used once it cannot be used again (even if the store is closed down). That being said, you can replace your .myshopify.com domain with a custom domain (for example, tshirtstore.com). You can read more about adding a custon domain on this page. When you do this your customers can use your custom domain to access your online store and your .myshopify.com domain will no longer be visible to customers. Your store name itself can also be changed by going to Settings > Store details and editing the Store name setting under Basic information.

You can delete an account following these steps here. You would need to log in, go to Settings > Plan and then click Deactivate store. If you’re unable to get to this page because it’s asking you to select a plan when you log in, it’s likely because your free trial has ended. If your free trial is over and you haven’t added any billing payment methods to your account, you won’t need to do anything to close it. This store will automatically go into a “frozen” state, which is ultimately closed.

Going forward, if your second store is the one you want to continue with I’d recommend changing the store name to the one you’d like by following the steps I shared earlier (Settings > Store details). Then you can add a custom domain to your shop following these steps and you should be good to go!

Please let me know if you have any questions!
