We are using complementary products on our shop. I am wondering if there is a way to import and assign complementary products via CSV upload.
Any solution for that? Perhaps with a 3rd party app like Matrixify?

I believe you’re talking about Shopify’s “search and discovery” app which has complimentary products? If that’s the case, you can edit those in our Bulk Product Editor app, we have some instructions here: https://support.ablestar.com/article/165-bulk-editing-shopifys-search-discovery-fields
The app also has a free version that allows for 5 free in-app edits and 5 free spreadsheet edits a month, so you can try it our without incurring any costs.

Renars here from Matrixify.
Indeed such data would be managed not directly in Shopify but via apps such as “Search and Discovery” app.
Bulk importing such fields is tricky as they do not exist in Shopify natively, but sure could be worth a try with our app as this data might be stored in Metafields for the Products.
You could try exporting your Products with Metafields using our app and see if you can locate Metafield columns that would indicate those complementary products, check what values are saved in them and try to set and import those values for other products.
Here we have a great tutorial on how to bulk manage Metafields with our app.
Though we have sometimes seen those Metafields showing up in export, but Shopify API not allowing us to update them. But I believe it is still worth a try with our apps Demo plan as it might work in your use-case.

any luck figuring this out? We are facing the same issue. With thousands of products to update with complementary products, doing this one by one is pretty daunting.
Did you figure this out ? Manually doing it seems crazy, and their suggestion to use “Bulk Edit” is just as crazy.
+1 on this - it’s so clunky

In case anyone is still looking for a solution using Matrixify, simply add a column with this label:
Metafield: shopify–discovery–product_recommendation.complementary_products [list.product_reference]
And add a comma separated list of product handles like this:
athletic-speed-01-t-shirt, athletic-speed-hoodie
