- How do I get people to come to my store
- How do I get them to buy stuff
To answer question #1, first put yourself in your customer’s shoes. If you were a customer on your online store, what would make you want to buy something.
If your main advantage is that you have a cheaper price than your competitors it’s gonna be tough because you’ll be competing with other people willing to cut their prices to get sales.
So take a step back and think about what problem you’re trying to solve for people with your online store.
I know it sounds kind of abstract but being able to answer that will help with your marketing.
Once you know what problem you’re trying to solve, you’ll want to focus on doing some marketing so that people know your store exists.
If you’re looking for the best and least expensive way to do that, I’d recommend learning how to create content to promote your store and then focus on building an email list.
Most people try to build an Instagram, Tiktok or YouTube page for their store but you could also create written content for subreddit of your niche or other online groups you can find. Focusing on the content will help get people to your store.
From there, I think you should focus on building an email list. Most people don’t want to buy something the first time they visit your store, especially if you don’t have any reviews yet or other kinds of social proof. So build an email list and then once it’s growing you can promote your products directly to them and ask for feedback on different things.
And once you get that feedback you can use to improve your store and your messaging on your product pages.
It’s not gonna be easy but that will work and put you in a position to eventually have people want to buy your stuff without having to join your list first.
