iPhone Tap to pay Shopify pos in New Zealand

Have just seen the option now available on my app, but an error message comes up when I try and set it up. Shopify support says it’s not available even though their support pages says it is ( apparently in error I’m now told). Has anyone in New Zealand managed to activate it ?

Current Issue:
. Tap to Pay on iPhone appears as an option in the Shopify POS app in New Zealand.

. When trying to set it up, you get an error message.

. Shopify Support says it’s not available, even though some support pages mistakenly listed it as available.

Why This Happens:
. The feature is currently only supported in the United States.

. Shopify may have updated the app UI globally in preparation for future expansion.

. This means New Zealand merchants can see the option, but can’t use it yet.

What You Can Do:

  1. Use a Supported Card Reader:
    Shopify supports the WisePad 3 in New Zealand — it works with Shopify POS and supports contactless payments.

  2. Ignore Tap to Pay for Now:
    Since the feature isn’t live in NZ, just skip setting it up until it’s officially released.

  3. Stay Updated:

. Make sure your Shopify POS app and iPhone iOS are up to date.

. Keep an eye on Shopify’s hardware page for NZ for official announcements.

. Watch Shopify’s changelog or blog for updates on international Tap to Pay rollout.

Thanks - yup I already have the wisepad, just thought it bizarre it recently appeared as an option and was documented in the support pages as available. It’s not imperative I have it so all good - just curious as other sources say it is available.
