“Dropshipping is dead or oversaturated” is a widespread statement or question. But then I ask, “Is shopping too saturated?” Of course not - people are shopping every day. New stores are launching, making their first sales, and scaling every day.

Dropshipping is a fulfilment model, and it cannot be saturated. On the other hand, products can become saturated in a particular market. For example, you probably don’t want to sell charcoal face masks in the US. It’s considered a saturated product there. But if you do some research, you will find out that there are countries where there s a lot of room for this kind of product to scale.

In my opinion, dropshipping has the potential to be more profitable today than it was 10 years ago. As more people embrace E-commerce, the business potential of drop shipping will keep on growing.

It is true that you have more competition today but you also have access to better platforms and services dedicated to dropshipping. Many of these services are not available 5 years ago. This question has been and is being continually asked for the last 10 years and never has dropshipping ‘died’ and it will never be.

Why? Because dropshipping is the modern equivalent of reselling. As we know, reselling is a stable practice and will never be outdated.

As dropshippers, we might feel like ‘it’s dead’ because we don’t get the results we want but there will always be an underlying reason why it doesn’t. Set the proper expectations and plan ahead before jumping into dropshipping.
