I am designing a store using the dawn theme and want to have a drop down menu from the main menu with 2 levels of nesting. I successfully created the menu by following this youtube tutorial from the official shopify youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrKrgOWRvzM&ab_channel=ShopifyHelpCenter. However my menu has a very different appearance to the one in the video. Mine looks the same on the main menu, but once its opened it looks like a list of other dropdown menus (showed in first attached screenshot) instead of how it looks in the video (showed in second attached screenshot). So my question is, is there any way to change the appearance of my dropdown menu to be in the same style as the one in the video (level 1 nested items in bold with the level 2 nested items underneath them)?
Topic summary
Main issue: A merchant using the Dawn theme created a two-level dropdown via Shopify’s official tutorial but the open menu appeared as separate nested dropdowns, not as grouped headings with sub-items like in the video.
Key detail: Screenshots compared the merchant’s list-style dropdown to the tutorial’s grouped layout. The tutorial link was from Shopify Help Center.
Resolution: Enabling the “Mega menu” in the Dawn theme’s Header section settings replicates the tutorial’s style (bold level-1 headings with level-2 links underneath).
Outcome: The merchant confirmed that turning on the Mega menu solved the issue.
Notes:
- A helper provided a screenshot indicating where to enable the Mega menu in Header settings.
- Images were central to understanding the styling difference.
Status: Resolved; no remaining open questions.
Hi Gsidoo,
In Dawn theme, inside the section settings for the header, there is an option to have a mega menu just like your reference. You can turn this on in order to have a megamenu
