I have purchased a domain form Register Domian SA and connected it to my shopify account. I am trying to remove the word ‘shopify’ from my online shop’s URL link. Please see example https://businessname.myshopify.com/ Please note that I am still learning and have watched several youtube videos and read feedback without success. Is it possible to remove the word Shopify for the link? Or am I doing something wrong with connecting the Register Domian SA’s domain to my shopify account?
By default, your online store has a myshopify.com URL when you sign up for Shopify. If you want to change the web address that’s displayed to customers while they browse your online store, then you need to add a custom domain, such as www.example.com.
You mentioned that you purchased a domain from Register Domain SA. Make sure you follow this Shopify guide correctly to connect the third-party domain to Shopify. If you can’t do it automatically, try connecting it manually.
I appreciate the context that you have shared as that is very helpful! It is not possible to make changes to the .myshopify.com URL that is connected to the store, the reason for this is to identify your online store when contacting Shopify Support. However, you can add a new domain to the Shopify store to have it set as the primary domain for the online store.
The primary domain of your online store will be the domain that your customers will see. Once you make your new domain the primary, your customers and visitors will no longer see the .myshopify.com URL that was provided when the store was created.
I have already tried all morning to make my Register Domain SA domain the primary domain but there seems to be a problem and shopify only gives me one option to make as primary domain as in screenshot attached but says my Register Domain SA domain already points to my store?
