Is Safari causing extreme lag in your admin pages?

Is anyone else having issues with extreme lag while trying to navigate your admin pages with Safari? It’s almost unusable. Sometimes having to wait 20 - 30 seconds for everything to load before I can click into anything. Some of the drop down menus also have extreme lag. I know it’s not my connection, because everything works fine on Chrome.

Yes i am having this same issue, since around June… i am on Macbook Air with M1 / Apple silicon and its so much slower than it used to be. I have never had any issues with Shopify Admin in Safari but now its almost unusable. Seems like Apple or Shopify need to fix something… Chrome works ok for me still, but i prefer using safari.

Same issue here. I have a few website that Safari says it uses significant memory. Shopify admin is basically unusable on Safari. Basically happened since I upgraded to macOS 12.4.

Anyone have an update?

Same as above. I have tried all the usual browser fixes but if this many of us are having the same problem then I think it is a Shopify issue not a Safari issue. I would love to keep working in Safari and not switch to Chrome. Please fix this!

Yes. I have to click and then wait for up to 10 seconds to make sure I don’t accidentally click something unintentionally. I created a ticket and they said it looks up to speed but the main orders page takes a long time for everything to fill in before I can do anything.

I am experiencing the same issue on Monterey 12.5. The only workaround is to use chrome. It only happens in Shopify admin. major lag. I hope this gets fixed. tried turning off all extensions but still have the lag. tried on my mac mini m1 16gb ram and my MacBook pro m1 max.

I have exactly the same problem – I can no longer use Shopify admin as things stand. Shopify support are adamant the problem is at my end and must be my Mac. Clearly, given how many other are having the same problem, it’s not my Mac…

Having the exact same issue. Running Safari Version 15.5 (17613.2.7.1.8). Using Chrome as the work around for now.

This morning i checked the Order page in admin and it’s fast as normal… other pages like Products and Inventory are still slow.. but Order is normal speed now.. could someone else check this to confirm?

Same issue, happening on my M1 iMac but weirdly not on my M1 Macbook air.

Same for my on my MacBook Pro. The product page in the admin is unusable because of how long it takes to load. It is NOT my computer because the RAM isn’t ever stressed at all while it’s loading. It also works fine on Chrome but, like everyone else, I prefer Safari. There shouldn’t be any question with everyone else chiming in, but I also am positive it isn’t my computer because I dual boot Windows 10 on the same machine. Using the Windows boot partition which has less HD space allocated to it on Chrome I get zero lag. It’s unbearable on Safari now. Something needs to be done.

I’m thinking it has something to do with the black field that shows sell through rate. On a side note, the admin seems to work fine on my iPad with no lag. It’s definitely a MacOS Safari issue.

Same here. Experiencing the same with Klaviyo, too. Am using Chrome/Brave as a workaround for both.

OCMike thought it was just me until I found this thread–having exactly the same issue and occurring at about the same time others started having the experience (Macbook Pro 12.4 OS w/Safari 15.5). Product admin section the slowest but all of the admin lags. I noticed this started occurring the time I logged into the new “summer '22” edition in June. Chrome works fine but like so many others I prefer Safari as well for my workflow. Did you solve your issues?

At the risk of revealing my ignorance (!), where might a fix for this come from, Shopify or Apple…?

Can confirm as of 1 AUG it is still unbearably slow. Shopify backend is running something that isn’t jiving with Safari.

Yep. I had another OSX update yesterday and the problem is still there. Shopify seems to be ignoring this and it’s infuriating.

Very slow here too on latest Mac version & Safari.

WAY faster to get things done on my iPhone through the app,

but very frustrating trying to process, check orders or do maintenance on our website on the Mac w Safari because of the lag time on everything.

from further use on safari. It seems like that new real-time tracker bar is causing the majority of my slow down. can anyone else test and confirm if they are having these issues too?
