Is Shopify Plus membership required to use checkout extensions?

In order to use these for my store, does one have to be a shopify plus member?

When will checkout extensions become available to basic Shopify merchants?

I received an email from Shopify saying, It will be available on April 30 2024 for Basic, Shopify, and Advanced.
