Is there a basic Cost of Goods Sold report included in Shopify?

Is there, or isn’t there a Cost of Goods Sold report? I’ve read conflicting information (some of it from years ago).

It shouldn’t be an add-on / app. It is a BASIC business report and should be included in the most basic version of the software. It is as basic as a sales report. Having just a sales report without knowing how much it cost you to sell those items (ie calculate profit!), is useless !!

I have not purchased Shopify yet. This may be a deciding factor…

Good news! Shopify Analytics offers the Profit Report to track your costs, margins, and profit. In this report, you will be able to find a column for cost. Currently, profit reports are available only if your store is on the Shopify plan or higher. You can take a look at the plan features to learn more about what reports are available and which option is best for you.

Alternatively, if you’re hoping to join on the Basic plan you can consider adding an app like

SimplyCost or Profiteer. Both of these apps provide you with profit reports that include the Cost of Goods Sold.

Keep in mind that most apps offer a free trial period so that you can test it out before committing. If you decide to not use the app, just ensure that you delete it from your apps before the trial ends to avoid getting charged.

Thank you. This is a BASIC report and should be included in the most basic level of your product. I shouldn’t have to pay for professional level, or pay for additional app each month. I think I might continue to look elsewhere for a website package.

As pointed out by Luna, you will need to be on a higher plan on order to generated this type of report in Shopify. If you don’t want to upgrade your current Shopify subscription, there are third-party solutions that you can use for generating advance reports that utilize the cost of goods. You can try this one:
