Hello, I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how to redirect my 301 links that are broken due to removing products from my site. I had personalized items that I no longer sell and removed them from my site. Ubbersuggests said I had many broken links, therefore I installed an app that shows me which ones they are and a majority are personalized gifts.
Do I redirect the links to my homepage? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Always link to the most relevant page you have as a replacement and definitely don’t 301 redirect to the home page. If there’s a substitute product, link to it. If there’s a category of similar products, link to that. If there are neither of those, create a page that explains that the personalized products (or what have you) have been removed and from that page link to other pages of the site they may be interested in.
