Hey, @ujay !

This is Moira from the Social Care team at Shopify.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here in the Shopify Community. You’ve definitely posted in the right place!

It’s great to hear you are adding a refund policy to your store. A good refund or return policy can help protect your company and win your customers’ trust! Making sure your language is clear and concise is extremely important which is why Shopify has a fantastic policy template that will help make it easy to generate a professional, ready-to-use refund or return policy for you. You are able to adjust parts of the template to ensure it aligns with your business:

If you follow the link above, all you need to do is input your details into the refund policy generator and we’ll email you a free, custom policy for your company. You can read more about adding policies to your store using this handy guide. You’ll also need to add your policies to your menu navigation, so there’s another guide on this that you can also take a look at.

You can add or generate any of the following policies for your Shopify store:

  • Refund policy

  • Privacy policy

  • Terms of service

  • Shipping policy

  • Legal notice

You’re able to locate these by going to Settings > Legal and the policies will all be listed there for you. Just keep in mind that you’re responsible for following your published policies. Review your policies carefully before adding them.

While we’re on the subject of policies and menu’s I wanted to ask how the rest of your store is going? When I think about merchants adding their policies, the next thing I think about is having the ability to connect with your customers via “About Us” and “Contact Us” pages. Have you already created those? If not, I’d love to walk you through some great tips to truly engage with your customers via these two vital menus.

We have an amazing blog post centered around “About Us” pages, that I think you’ll love right here:

About Us pages are all about selling your brand. If someone was to ask you about your business, your About Us page should be the first place you send them. You’ll see in the blog post linked above, that this page should not be an afterthought that’s hidden away in your menu, but a chance to really sell your company. Where did you begin? Why did you start this business? Who are you? These are all really powerful questions to answer, to give your customers an emotional connection to your business.

Finally, I’d like to touch on your customers being able to contact you. We have a great built-in contact form for your customers to communicate with you through. If you’d like to learn more about it - and add it to your store - I’ve attached a helpful guide here:

I do hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if I can clarify anything further.

My pleasure @ujay , thanks again for posting in the community! Don’t hesitate to reach back out if you require any further assistance as you continue to work on your store.

All the best,

Your help is not working for me. When I click the link, it makes me start a new shopify trial. I am already logged in.. day 12 of free trial but can’t get policies from template.

Hey @valleytrends10 !

From your Shopify Admin, head to your Settings > Policies.

Enter your store policies, or click Create from template to enter the default template.

For further guidance please follow the steps in the video tutorial below:

The same happened to me, I tried to follow the instruction but it didn’t work how I can solve?

Hey @Sbraligator , are you trying to generate a template for your policies?

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Policies.

  2. Enter your store policies, or click Create from template to enter the default template. Use the rich text editor to add style and formatting to your policies, and to add links and images.

  3. Review your policies and make any changes.

  4. Click Save to add your policies.

After you add your store policies, they’re automatically linked in the footer of your checkout pages. Customers might need to see your policies before they check out, so it’s a good idea to link those pages in your store navigation.

Hi, Yes of course I did, but there isn’t the button to generate it.

@Sbraligator

It’s important to note that Policy templates can be generated only in English and for checkouts that are set to English. If you operate your store in another language, then you need to create your own store policies. If that is the case, but you’d like to use the policies in English, you can use our online Policy Generator here.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your policies page so we can troubleshoot further? There should be a “create from template” button as shown below:

Hello @ujay

ClickPost Returns Plus, a returns management app on shopify can help you set your return & refund policies. Along with setting policies and rules for reason of returns, you can track and manage your product returns as well. Hope this was helpful.
