I have been racking my brain trying to find a report that shows me the average “days on the floor” or “days on hand” by product. IE - I received 4 sweaters on October 1st, sold one on October 2nd, and still have 3 in stock. Today is October 4th. Average Days on Hand for sweater #1 (sold) = 1, and for the remaining 3, Average Days on Hand = 3. Average Days on Hand for that product is currently 2.5.
Sales Velocity doesn’t work, because it doesn’t take the day the product hit the floor into consideration, and this is important to me. Does this exist? What am I missing?
Shopify’s API doesn’t provide detailed product traffic data, so consolidating key metrics can be challenging. Third-party apps like Report Pundit and Data Export help you see sales, SKU, and creation date data. However, Shopify only tracks sessions from visitors who make a purchase, not all product visitors. If you use unique UTM links for your products, Google Analytics (GA4) integration from Report Pundit can give detailed session and customer data by SKU, offering a clearer view of traffic and engagement
You can get days of cover from an app - otherwise what I do is download all my sales data in excel - create a daily sales metric and then extrapolate the days of cover. It seems to be the easiest way since there is not a days of cover metric in Shopify.
I was doing this so much I included a days of cover in my inventory app Stock Pigeon (self-plug) - it will calculate days of cover automatically across your catalog.
