Hi! We are building a new Shopify site and hoping for find a way to offer subscriptions with manual payment methods (Cash on Delivery, etc) - so far we’ve only found apps that work with credit card payments. We have a number of subscription customers who are Net 30 and mail back checks. Thank you!!!
Hey @JulieMurphy ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some guidance with setting up subscriptions to get this resolved. To provide some context, I recommend checking out our Subscriptions Eligibility Documentation as it touches on the available gateways to enable this feature. It outlines however, that one of the following gateways must be used to use subscriptions:
- Shopify Payments
- PayPal Express
- Authorize.net
- Stripe (only available to some merchants)
It’s also important to note that customers cannot use Accelerated Checkouts or Local Payments such as Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, mollie iDEAL, and Sofort, to purchase subscriptions. Customers can however use, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal Express on some stores.
It’s completely understandable how this may not be ideal, but am happy to make note of this suggestion with our Developers. We are always looking for ways to improve the platform and appreciate your feedback.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello, so did you guys improve the platform on this topic from two years ago?
Is there a way to create subscriptions orders and not be having to use the gateways you mention, for customers who want to transfer money directly or using a different online credit card system for recharges that we would manually set the order as “paid”?
Or maybe an offline subscription app, that let the customer chose between custom payment methods and that we as the store can process manually?
