Please I am just wondering if I need to put the dashes that between the numbers like presented in the details on my bank account or just the number with no dashes. Example : Should I put it this 23-45-78 or this 234578

Question: Whether bank sort code/routing details for Shopify Payments should be entered with dashes or only digits.
Answer varies by region:
- US/Australia: Enter routing and account numbers as digits only, with no hyphens or extra characters.
- Canada: The routing number should include a hyphen before the institution number (e.g., 11111-222).
- UK: The sort code must include hyphens (e.g., 11-22-33); the account number should be digits only.
Action/next steps: For account-specific confirmation, merchants should contact Shopify live support via the Help Center after logging in, select a relevant topic, then choose a contact method from the page bottom.
Status: General guidance provided; final confirmation depends on the merchant’s region and can be obtained from support. No disagreements or unresolved disputes noted.
Hi, @Appoacx .
The banking format will differ and depends on the region of Shopify Payments account that you’re applying for. I’ll detail some of these differences below:
-
For US/Australian merchants: The routing and account numbers should not have any hyphens or extra characters added. They should just be numbers.
-
For Canadian merchants: The routing number should have a hyphen before the institution number, for example: 11111-222.
-
For UK merchants: The sort code (routing number) must have hyphens between the numbers. It will look something like this: 11-22-33. The account number should just include the numbers.
