Hi, I started by Shopify shop about 3 months ago and have added a huge number of products since the first week. Also improved SEO per Shopify best practices. However, traffic has been flat since the first weeks. No improvement. Ideas?

Hi @murray_3

I have found out some points which you can improve after checking your store carefully. Please see the details I attach here:

  1. No favicon. Favicon is very important especially when you would like to create your own brand and let more customer know yourself. This will apply in the search results as well if you set it up properly. This can be done from Shopify admin page by accessing Customize button directly. You can wait for Google to index store contents again and if it thinks your favicon is good to display, you shall see it directly.

  2. Missing Alt text on your product images. Alt text is the language used to be read and indexed by search engines like Google. If without Alt texts, Google will feel confusing to know what it is and the relations with your web pages, and it will result in the random match or result displaying on Google if your customers plan to search for more details. This can be added by accessing related product pages and find out the image to add by clicking, or you can use the alt text option inside our APP to edit directly and the data will be synced to the backend immediately.

  3. Excessive meta title. This is what I find from source code page and usually the recommended length for meta title should be between 50–70 characters. Too long meta title or meta description will cause one situation: Content in search results cannot display completely, and it will block potential customers from getting your page details directly. You can double check from Shopify Preference page or follow the SEO suggestions from SEOAnt also, it will detect and tell you if it is the proper operation to ease your page optimization.

Let’s cooperate together to boost your sales, and I’m happy to do something to make your store perform in a better way!

Hi @murray_3

This is David from PieLab here. What Jeffery said is really helpful and I just wanted to further elaborate on those.

You can also add ALT tags with these instructions

Hope this helps!

To become more visible in search engines, try to add blog to your store. A blog drives organic traffic, especially when you publish keyword-rich content on a regular basis.
You don’t need to overcomplicate, just write about something related to your products and you will attract targeted visitors in a most natural way. Moreover, with social sharing buttons functionality, you can go even further.
From what I can judge, Shopify’s default blog is quite basic. That’s why it is worth checking something a bit more advanced with extra features, like Magefan’s blog for example.

i went through your store.

good work on the designs and all.

also, I am seeing that some other members have provided some valuable suggestions.

to add further to their suggestions, a blog page with different types of articles related to your products can be a good way to improve your store’s SEO. basically, you can conduct keyword research related to your niche, and create articles around those topics. and most importantly, you must create content which caters to all three stages of the marketing funnel: tofu, mofu, and bofu. that way, traffic and conversions can improve.

in addition to that, you can also add more sections on your existing pages while using those keywords. for example, on your home and collection pages, I found that there is a good opportunity to add FAQ sections. those can help you answer some common questions related to your business and products, and also improve the SEO value.

if you have any queries related to the points above, feel free to ask.

Hi Murray,

First of all, I really appreciate your business idea of selling fine art online—it’s a great niche with so much potential, especially when marketed the right way. From my first look at your store, I noticed a few key areas that could really help you stand out and drive more sales:

  1. A visually appealing logo that tells your brand story and creates a strong first impression
  2. Custom favicon for a more polished, professional look
  3. On-page SEO optimization to improve your search engine visibility
  4. Establishing strong presence on platforms like Medium to share your story and build a deeper connection with potential buyers
  5. Social media marketing, especially on Instagram, which is a perfect platform to showcase your visual art and reaching an audience that values creativity.

These are foundational steps that can take your online store to the next level. If you’d like to explore these strategies in more detail, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to chat more and help where I can.
