I’d like to offer a free PDF eBook with a physical product and have it automatically emailed to customers when they place an order. Is this possible in Shopify? If so, could you please provide guidance or steps on how to set it up? Screenshots would be greatly appreciated!

you could do this using a digital products and advanced theme customizations to autoadd the product to either the cart when items are added or when customer is checking out.
Similar to the gift-wrapping customization but customized to be automatic instead of a checkbox opt-in.
Or dig through all numerous free gift apps to see if one works for this maybe.

First, you will need to create your ebook product on the online store and install this Shopify native app: Digital Downloads to have it emailed to customers.
After that, use BOGOS: Free Gift, Discounts & Bundles (2000+ reviews, 4.9 overal rating) app to create gift offer. BOGOS app can add your free PDF Ebook product automatically into customers’ checkout, and once you fulfilled the orders, the ebook file will be sent straight to their emails.

@TheShopiGurus You can do this easily with any “digital products” or “digital downloads” app from Shopify App Store. We have this too on our app - Filemonk. Setting it up is super simple -
- Upload your PDF eBook to the app
- Link it to the product listings you want to send the eBook with.
- Enable email delivery.
Filemonk will automatically keep track of your orders and send the eBook download link to customers instantly after checkout. You can also give your customers quick access to the eBook by adding a “Download” button on Thank you page. If you need help with setting this up, let me know!
