Only the first variant option is being added to cart

We received complaints from customers that once they select their product variants and click add to cart, the variant in the cart automatically becomes the first variant no matter the selection. We have also tested and found that this is the case. Can we please have some assistance or advice as we are not very experienced with coding?

what theme are you using? There is a possibility the UI is being updated but the holding the variant ID data isn’t being updated correctly customers change the variant.
