Since i am a newbie to shopify, trying hard to achieve the below requirement. Tried all best way to achieve but finally landed on community for some help. Please guide.
As per the screenshot i need to update the number of products to be shown in a row. User can select it from the drop down option values as to how many products he want to see in a row. Any workaround for this in shopify.
By default 4 products in a row will be applied, but if the customer selects 2 column then 2 products in a row on collection page template should be visible respectively.
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
I understand you’re looking to change the number of products per row using a toggle (drop-down) that customers can choose from. While our Theme Support team can help with adjusting the number of products per row for the Dawn theme, the toggle for customers to choose their preference isn’t supported by our design policy.
If having the toggle is something that you must have on your store, then I’d recommend hiring a developer to assist you with this. If you need help finding a developer, you can find one on Shopify Experts. Shopify Experts is our directory of certified developers that have experience working with custom coding and they’ll be able to create a solution for your store.
By default, the Dawn theme will automatically reorganize the number of products per row based on the device that the customer is using to view your store for an optimal viewing experience. Was there a particular reason you need to add a toggle for the number of products per row?
@pgupta is there a particular reason you are looking to give the customer the option to pick the number of products per row instead of optimizing it based on data for every customer?
We can help you complete this tweak if you’d like to have it done.
Yes, that’s what the flexibility we are giving for the customers to view it. And i think it looks simple to achieve. But need little input to go in right direction.
Since this level of modification to the Dawn theme isn’t supported by our design policy, then I’d recommend hiring a developer to help you with this. Both, Shopify Experts or TaskHusky, are excellent choices to assist you with this customization and create a custom solution for your store.
If you have any other questions on this topic, don’t hesitate to let me know!
@Elias Hi thanks for responding. But i myself is a developer. I intentionally posted this for little input in right direction. So hiring a developer is not needed.
And hope i have posted in a community wherein developers can share the feedbacks.
I can’t be sure if the Shopify Discussions board is the best place for seeking feedback from developers. Instead, I’d recommend posting your questions on the Partners & Developers board as developers and other partners often respond to that board.
I’d love to know if the developers or partners can assist you with this. Keep me posted!
