I placed an order on 1/19/2025 for a thermal brush with the store “STYL”, which shows 1 item for sale for the entire store. Along with express shipping, stating it would arrive in 2-3 business days. It is now 2/20/2025! The tracking information remains “in process”, whatever that means. Last updated on 1/21/2025. I have pictures of this information. I want to know WHAT is going on?! And why this seller is still available on Shopify to sell items, or apparently just this ONE item! But this is my 2 or 3rd order with Shopify vendors, AND, every single one of them NEVER ARRIVED!!! The last one, a faux fur jacket, by the time I felt something wasn’t right, The store was taken down, and gone, with absolutely no way of contact them, nothing. Shopify was of no help! What is really going on here?!? And what is SHOPIFY DOING TO PREVENT THEIR CUSTOMERS FROM SCAMMERS!?!? Clearly, not enough. Due to the Shopify platform, it brings more eyes and clicks to these stores, as well as a level of trust. To find out that Shopify’s not vetting these individuals, who are being provided with OUR financial information! They are allowing them to create these random stores, selling 1 item, or just taking people’s money and deleting the store. For them to even be able to commit that type of fraud, clearly Shopify is at fault and must be held liable for THEIR customers being scammed, due to their negligence in not taking the necessary precautions which would be ones where these scammers could not easily scam people. No other e-commerce sites have this problem on this scale, or any of the amateur issues like fake stores processing orders and then just taking them down after receiving payments.. none of the other e-commerce platforms even have “storefronts” with 1 item for sale. The fact that Shopify is still allowing the same things to go on and apparently has not updated their security, vetting, or individual accountability processes. It would lead me to believe, they are involved, or they just don’t care, as long as they get paid. At this point. I will personally be contacting the FTC, BBB, the attorney general office, and I urge others to please do the same. Or any of these similar institutions in your geographical area. Shopify SHOULD NOT BE IN SERVICE anymore. For me alone to have randomly over several years placed a couple orders, that happened to ALL be fraudulent stores and stealing my money, and possibly my financial information.. due to Shopify giving them a platform to do this. That’s absolutely something to look into. As well as the other issue mentioned earlier. Why Shopify has this large scale problem, but no other platforms in the same business do, or the reports they do get, they take seriously and have ways of replacing customers funds, holding the sellers responsible, and not allowing it to continue to keep happening. Unlike Shopify. Shopify, like my mother always said, show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are. lol. You are just as complicit in the fraud going on, wether it be through unknowing stupidity from lack of process and procedures, or blatant knowing from lack of process and procedures. ITS YOUR PLATFORM, YOUR THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY.
If anybody has experienced similar issues with sellers via shopify, I would love for us to come together as a community to speak about our personal experiences, if/if not it was resolved and how, what process was the best approach to take, and who/what responsible parties were held accountable. As a community I feel we need to help one another with these issues. Please, let’s come together, even 20 people would be a great start.
Topic summary
A customer ordered a thermal brush on January 19, 2025, with express shipping (2-3 business days), but the package has been stuck “in process” since January 21—over a month with no movement.
Pattern of Issues:
- This marks the customer’s 2nd or 3rd Shopify vendor order where items never arrived
- Previous order (faux fur jacket) resulted in the store disappearing entirely with no recourse
- Both problematic stores had suspicious characteristics: selling only 1 item, minimal storefront presence
Key Concerns Raised:
- Shopify’s vetting process for merchants appears inadequate
- Fraudulent sellers can easily create stores, collect payments, then vanish
- Platform provides legitimacy/trust that scammers exploit
- Customer support offered no meaningful assistance in previous incident
Call to Action:
The poster is seeking other affected customers to form a community group (targeting 20+ people) to:
- Share similar experiences with Shopify vendor fraud
- Document resolution attempts and outcomes
- Identify effective approaches for accountability
- Collectively address the platform’s responsibility for customer protection
The discussion remains unresolved, with the original order still missing and broader platform security questions unanswered.
