Paypal not showing up as a payment option

When I setup my shopify store I used an email account that is linked to a PayPal personal account. I noticed that PayPal was not showing up as a payment option in my shopify store . So I upgraded my PayPal to a business account but PayPal is still not coming up as a payment option

Hi @Lienne1 .

You’ll need to finish setting up the connection with PayPal - this will not be done automatically after you create a business profile.

Please ensure that you’ve followed these steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
  2. In the Additional payment methods section, find PayPal.
  3. Click Manage.
  4. Click Deactivate PayPal Express Checkout.
  5. Click Deactivate PayPal Express Checkout again to confirm.
  6. Click Activate PayPal Express Checkout.
  7. Enter the email address for your PayPal account, and then click Next.
  8. Enter the password for your PayPal account, and then click Log In.
  9. On the PayPal permissions page, click I Give Permission.
  10. On the PayPal confirmation page, click Go back to Shopify.
  11. Make a test transaction to make sure everything is set up properly.

That’s quite strange, @Lienne1 .

The only reason I can think of is that you are in a region that doesn’t offer PayPal as a payment gateway. Which country are you in?

I’m having the same problem. Paypal is correctly setted and it works for most of my clients, but in the last week 2 of them sent me a message with screenshots of their cart and the Paypal option is not showing (nor is the GooglePay one). How can I fix this? Thanks

Has anyone posted a fix for this? I am having same issue in the US, Paypal doesn’t show in Additional Payment Methods, nor does it appear when searching for PayPal. How to fix?

Just go to the search bar and type PayPal.
Click on the first option with the settings icon.
That will take you to the right page, click Activate, then log in to your PayPal account, and it should work.

As I understand it, if you use Shopify Payments, it eliminates the option for PayPal, as your payment method is now within Shopify Payments.

You can still accept PayPal transactions if you enable it in Settings>Payments>Shopify Payments>Manage>Manage Payment Methods.

For payouts, you can simply change your payout method by clicking the 3 dots in the Payout Bank Account.

Unfortunately, Paypal does not appear in the Manage Payment Methods area. Paypal doesn’t know why it’s not showing up and I have a ticket in Shopify (they don’t know why either) and they are looking into.

That’s strange indeed because it’s built into the Shopify Payments platform. Are the other on/off toggle options there like Google, Amazon, Apple?

Yes, those are all there. No Paypal. :confused:

Is there any update on this? I’m setting up an new store for a client. I have done this several times. PayPal is just not there. Search for Payment Method, Search by Provider, just not there.

I have NOT set up Shopify Payments yet as the client just wants to use PayPal.

On another account I work on there was a “disable Shopify Payments” button and we setup the primary payment method through Authorize.NET and the Additional Method is PayPal.

Something Seems to have changed, and no one seems to know what’s going on.
