Hello, my store has been getting a ton of traffic the past two days. Today I got 15 people to add to cart and reach checkout. But for some
reason, they will not purchase. I can see some of them in the abandoned checkouts page but not all of them. Could one of the staff do a test order to see if there is a problem. Also, one hunch I might have is my shipping settings because I’m getting mostly international traffic but most likely not.

There can be several reasons for a high number of abandoned carts on a Shopify store. Some possible causes include:
- Reduce Price Shock
If the extra costs (shipping, tax, fees, etc.) are too high you will get more cart abandonment. One way to eradicate this problem is by offering free shipping. Make sure to highlight that you’re not charging anything to deliver the products.
- Allow Guest Checkout
Offering a guest checkout option takes the checkout optimization process to the next level. You will get more abandoned carts if you want them to create an account to complete the checkout.
- Giving shoppers a variety of payment options
Add various payment options which will be convenient for the customer to purchase products. Be sure to have these options at a minimum: Credit card, Debit card, PayPal
, Google Pay.
- Providing free shipping
You can offer free or reduced shipping costs on selected items, free shipping once a shopper reaches a certain dollar amount, or even a free shipping coupon code.
- Long checkout process
A complicated or lengthy checkout process can discourage customers from completing their purchase.
- Lack of trust
Customers may not trust the store enough to provide their personal and financial information during checkout.
- Shipping and handling costs
Unreasonable shipping and handling costs can also cause customers to abandon their carts.
- Complex return policy
A complex or restrictive return policy can also discourage customers from completing their purchase.
- Not providing enough information about the product
Lack of product information or not providing enough detail about the product can lead to customers leaving the site.
- Website loading speed
Slow loading speed of the website can lead to customers leaving the site.
It is a necessary to remind abandoned cart customers to get them back. With abandoned cart emails, you can remind your customers of the items they expressed interest in and then left your store with no intention of returning.
You can do this from your store Settings > Checkout > Abandoned Cart section > Choose to send abandoned cart emails either one, six, 10, or 24 hours after a customer abandons a cart.
For getting more organic(free) conversions make sure your products are indexed on Google. Once your product is found on Google, customers will keep finding your product day after day. With flareAI, your store can access the Google Search and 20+ free sales channels.
