I recently started my Shopify store by linking it to my Print on Demand provider. I have a product and I want to add more that requires personalization before the item is sent to production. I also have an Etsy shop that lets you set up personalization on their end so that I can prompt the customer on which choices they need to make for the product (Lettering etc.). I can then edit the design and send it manually to production. Is there a way to do this on Shopify?
Topic summary
A new Shopify store owner using a Print-on-Demand provider asks how to collect customer personalization details (e.g., lettering) on product pages, similar to Etsy’s built-in personalization, so they can edit the design before sending to production.
Suggested approaches:
- Use a product customizer app to add inputs (text fields, choices) on product pages. One reply links to a customizer app.
- For simple needs, use Shopify metafields (custom data fields) to capture personalization; a YouTube tutorial is provided demonstrating this setup.
- A specific app recommendation (Easify Product Options) offers text fields, file uploads, swatches, etc., enabling customers to submit custom requests with their orders; the seller can then edit designs and forward to production. A screenshot of the app interface is included.
Outcome/status: Practical solutions identified (apps and metafields), but the original poster has not confirmed a chosen method; discussion remains open.
Hi @MugMystic
You can use a customizer app, or if it so simple, you can use metafield instead (see video below)

Hi @MugMystic ,
You can use the Easify Product Options app to create personalization options on your product pages, such as text fields, file uploads, swatches, and more. Once customers place their orders with their custom requests, you can edit the design and send it to production
