Hi, can somebody help with technical question please. The price not changing when selecting a different variant on my Uma 10 theme. www.Alyonasworld.com Thanks )
Topic summary
A store owner using the Uma 10 theme reports that product prices no longer update when customers select different variants, despite this functionality working correctly for the past 4 years. The issue affects print-on-demand (POD) products like canvas prints, flip flops, and bags that have multiple size options with different prices.
Key Details:
- Variant prices are properly configured in the backend and display on product pages
- The problem appeared suddenly when uploading new products
- Products are automatically created through POD provider integrations
- Manual price assignment for each variant is impractical given the large product catalog
Proposed Solutions:
- One user suggests the issue may stem from mismatched HTML/JavaScript code or problems with variant values containing special characters (like 12")
- Recommendations include either fixing the code or upgrading to a modern theme
- Others recommend verifying variant settings in Shopify backend or checking if recent store customizations caused the issue
Status: The discussion remains unresolved, with conflicting advice about whether this requires manual intervention, code fixes, or a theme upgrade.
Hi @AlyonaElena
I saw your website have you entered the variant price ?
Which product are you talking as i saw a couple of products the pricing is same of all variants in the products i saw.
I saw this product the price is changing on variant selection
Hi, all canvas prints, flip flops, bags have different sizes and different
prices. it’s automatically posted when I create a new product. It worked
for 4 years ok, but now something happened …
hello, this requires you to properly link each of the product variant with a price and this is done manually under the product settings in the product page. let me know if you get this and if not, i can put you through
Thanks for responding. Yes all this in place, everything works
automatically when I create a product.
yes, it will do, is it a dropshipping products or physical products?
this can only be done manually, it won’t be done automatically. You need to tag each variants with their respective price and this will be done one after the other for each product. let me know if you needed this to be done for you
I do this with product providers, they connect to my store. They offer
prices and variants, after I create products, I save prices and sizes they
offer. So everything appears on the product page as you can see. This works
for 4 years. But stop working suddenly with uploading new products. I see
all the data on the page but on the website prices don’t change. I have a
lot of products and variants, making this manually impassible…and why do
this if everything is already there on page. I think something wrong with
coding…
Yes, it looks that something is out of sync between HTML code and Javascript code.
Say, variant selector has id of productSelect, but JS code expects productSelect-product-template. Though maybe it’s ok for the theme.
However, some old themes (and theme edits) did not work well with product option values in inches, like 12".
This can be another reason – try to change them to simply 12 or 12 inches and see if it helps.
This can be fixed, but not a quick fix. In my opinion the effort would be better spent upgrading to a modern theme.
hi @AlyonaElena
Flip Flops usually have same price no matter the sizes are different
coming to tote bags yes the pricing is same i saw that too
some coding needs to be done but before that did you check that in shopify as in manually on product pages inside shopify back end please check that in shopify back end
There is nothing wrong with coding but the best is for you to do it manually or get someone to do that. The store has been operating and everything was set well before. If i should ask, Did anyone work on your store recently? If yes, may be that is where the problem lies and if NO, you need an upgrade for proper optimization for the store
Hi, thanks for answering , Idid try to customise my store, but I did it
before and nothing bad happened. So what you think I have to do now,
somebody says maybe to move all store to new theme or something else?
thank you
