Prices in front-end different from back-end

Hi there,

I’m experiencing a problem with my shop: boavista-club.com

For some unknown reasons shopify shows wrong prices in the front end (product pages, collection pages, etc.). In the back-end all prices are set to 103,99 with a “compare at” price of 129,99. however in the front-end prices are shown as 100,60 with a “compare at” price of 125,76.

The default currency of my shop is .

Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?

I build my webshop in the course of the last week and have not touched any code.

Also I have very few apps installed. the only relevant to location/ language/ currency is “geolocation” by shopify.

Any help would be highly appreciated :slightly_smiling_face:

Cheers,

Sabrina

There could be 2 reasons for this.

  1. There must be an app that is changing the price on the frontend.

  2. There must be some calculation running in the liquid which we cant see from the frontend, this can be checked from the liquid, can you send the screenshot of the liquid code from where price changing.

Hi Sabrina!

I took a look at the store and I noted that the default location for your currency converter on your store was Germany, which shows the price of the products at 100,60€.

What is the country that your business is actually located in? The currency converter will continue to show the prices in but it will be converted based on the value of that countries dollar.

Can you confirm that when you choose your business’s default country from the currency converter that it is still not showing the correct prices?

Hi Shay,

thanks for your reply!

My store’s location is Portugal, while my primary market is Germany. Don’t really understand where this currency conversion comes from - both countries use €?

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks and best

Sabrina

Hi,

re App - I have barely apps installed. the one managing localized experiences etc is “geolocation” from Shopify.

re liquid - where can I find this/ which liquid is the relevant one?

Thanks and best

Sabrina

so I tried switching my primary market to Portugal (which is also the location of my legal entity) instead of Germany, however the problem persists. the store currency is set to €. any idea why Shopify thinks the prices in the back-end are in dollars, when they are actually in €?

As I can see on your store, prices are showing fine now.

unfortunately only when choosing Portugal as country. for all other countries the prices in € are still off:

any idea what could be the reason for that?

now prices are working as expected on your store.

Your default currency is Portugal EUR, when selecting the currency from the bottom to Portugal EUR, the price shows fine.

When changing currency to another country EUR then it shows prices based on it.

All this is happening from the currency convertor app you are using.

Now, what exactly is your issue? don’t you want to change currency based on country?

Exactly - for countries within the eurozone I want the price to be the same, since there is no currency conversion involved. 129€ in Portugal should also be 129€ in Germany, since its the same currency. how can I fix that?

ok got it, you can remove the countries for which you don’t want to change the price.

how can I do that? I tried deactivating them in the “markets” section, but then customers in these markets are not able to check-out anymore, which is obviously not what I want.

Is there a way to just deactivate currency conversion?

did you check the app? there must be an option in the app to remove country from the dropdown.

done, problem solved - thanks!
