Products approved in Google but showing as Pending in Shopify

Hi,

Please can anyone assist with this issue. Our products have been listed for more than 4 weeks, so they should have been approved by Google by now. What is happening here, and how can I change the status from Pending to Approved.

Products are still pending

If you have a lot of products with a lot of variants, syncing them to Merchant Center can take some time. If you notice this is taking longer than 5 business days, try checking the reasons below.

Shopping Ads program isn’t active in Merchant Center

You may have started setting up your Merchant Center account outside of Shopify and not completed it. You can check this by:

  1. Going to Google Merchant Center

  2. Click Growth on the left navigation > then click Manage Programs

  3. You should see a card that says Shopping Ads

  4. Shopping Ads should say Active

  5. If it does not say Active, see what steps are not completed and complete them.

  6. For some people, it may say Add Product data

  7. Click on Add product data. On the next screen you will see the Google Shopping API feed in progress

  8. No further action is required at this stage. You will need to simply wait a couple of hours for “Shopping ads” to become active.

  9. Once it says active, please allow the full 5 business days for Google to review your products.

Shopping ads is active on Google Merchant Centre and has been for some time. I don’t think this is the issue.

If your products are stuck in pending status, there are two possible factors that might cause this issue. Below are the things you need to check within your Google Merchant Center:

If products are stuck in pending for more than a week this is likely due to the Merchant Center account not having the “Shopping Ads” destination set to active under Programs. The channel cannot sync to the Merchant Center account unless the account has Shopping ads active. Below are the steps to confirm if your Shopping Ads is active:

Go to Google Merchant Center > Growth > Manage Programs and check if “Shopping ads” shows as Active:

If not set to Active, please activate and click continue. This will bring you to the following screen:

Make sure that the terms and conditions for Shopping Ads are selected at the bottom, then click Add product data which will bring you to the Primary feeds section. Here you will see the pending icon in the top right corner and the Google channel API feed in progress. No further action is required at this stage, you just need to wait a couple of hours for “Shopping ads” to become active.

If Shopping Ads program is already Active and the products are stuck in pending status

Please go to Products > All products in the Merchant Center account and see if there are products visible. If there are no products visible here, disconnect and reconnect the Merchant Center account in the Settings tab of the Google Channel. This will trigger a resync of the feed. Allow 24-48 hours for this to complete.

If there are products visible, please check the last two columns (Program and Status) - Ideally products should show as “Active” for “Shopping Ads”.

If products show as Active or Disapproved, there may be a display issue in the Google Channel. Disconnecting and reconnecting your Google Merchant Center account in your Google Channel Settings can correct the product status to show in Shopify within 24 hours.

If after 24 hours your products are still stuck as pending in the Google Channel, please let us know through our help center so that we can dig into it in more detail.
