Products overselling - multi-location orders

Hi,

We have been having overselling issues for the last 2 months and no solution seems to be findable to fix this.

For example, an order contains 3 products (A, B and C) from which A and B are available at location X (highest priority - 3rd party fulfillment center) and product C is not but is available at location Y (which also fulfills ECOM orders). Shopify will allocate all three products to location X, bringing the stock level from the unavailable product to -1 instead of allocating that product C to location Y, where it is available. The “continue selling when out of stock” box is of course disabled.

This forces us to manually keep track of the negative stock levels and change locations for all oversold orders.

Does anyone else have this issue and did someone find an add-on or coding solution to counteract this?
