I’m new to selling products. Im based in SA and my store is international. When Im about to checkout , I can see that everywhere its free of charge for taxes and shipping but when my location is set to south africa it includes taxes. Why is this so
The differences in taxes and shipping charges are due to varying local tax laws and international shipping policies. In South Africa, VAT is typically collected on sales, which is why you see taxes added when your location is set there. Internationally, tax rules differ, and many countries do not require foreign sellers to collect taxes. For accurate guidance, it’s best to consult with a tax expert.
Now, regarding shipping, it sounds like you haven’t set this up yet. If you’re unaware, you have full control of how you charge customers shipping. Have you looked into how much it costs to ship your orders internationally? If you have no idea where to start, have a look at this shipping guide: https://shopify.link/ZWNM. Have you launched your online store? Or are you still building it?
