Hey there,

I need assistance on how to make a selection in cart mandatory before checkout, I’m using Impulse Theme Store. Right now, if I hit add to cart, it is only showing default selection, or no selection at all. www.hookahessentials.com

I appreciate that you have let us know which theme is being used and sharing your online store URL, that is very helpful!

Just to gather some additional context, is this occurring for all products or is this happening to a specific collection? Also, which selection are you referencing that you would like your customers to complete before navigating to checkout?

I navigated to the online store and added a product to the cart. When I added it to the cart, it saved the variant that I selected and allowed me to navigate to the checkout to complete the purchase.

Hey Ollie,

Thank you for replying… it is the hookah kit collections and the hookah candy tips. We want the flavor selection mandatory, and not set in default. If a consumer has not picked a flavor, then we would like a prompt (Pick Your Flavor), which informs the customer that a flavor has not been selected, before adding kit or candy tips to their cart.

Thanks for the quick response and providing that information.

I navigated to your online store once again and I can see what you mean! You can potentially offer multiple variants with the Hookah Kit products to allow your customers to select which candy tip they would like to have with the kit. You can navigate to the Products section using the Shopify admin and select one of the Hookah Kits that you are offering. You can add an additional variant option to require your customers to make a selection. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to:

Alternatively, you can look towards adding a third-party application from the Shopify App store which can assist you with creating bundles for your online store. I grabbed a couple of recommendations to provide, feel free to take a look through them and let me know what you think:

Thank you so much for your feedback. I also sent a screenshot of what we want. In the attachment a customer cannot place their items in the cart, or click the buy button until a flavor is selected. This is what we want in our store, I think it has to do with coding. For some reason on our site, you can bypass without selecting a flavor and move to checkout.

Also, for the kits its more of the shisha flavors, picking a specific fruit shisha flavor before adding to cart.

By any chance. did you attempt to try out one of the third-party applications on the Shopify App store to assist you with creating the bundled product?

My suggestion in this case would be to reach out to our Shopify Experts as they can assist you with creating/building the code to have your customers select the mandatory product options before adding the product to cart.
