Redirect shop to new domain - redirects

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of rebranding my shop from domain1.com to domain2.com. My current domain has a strong SEO presence, and I want to ensure that I maintain this as I transition to the new domain.

I have a couple of questions about setting up the 301 redirects to preserve my SEO rankings:

Primary Domain Settings: If I go to Settings → Domains in Shopify and set domain2.com as the primary domain and redirect domain1.com to domain2.com, will this be sufficient to maintain my SEO?

Or do I need to set up 301 redirects for each individual URL from domain1.com to domain2.com? For example, if I have several product pages or collections, will a blanket redirect from the domain level suffice, or should I create specific redirects for each page?

Also is there a way where I can test the redirect is done properly?

Thanks,

You need to 301 redirect each url that have health SEO ranking to the new one. You should also go to google search console and reindex your page. Only adding a redirection from domain1.com to domain2.com will just redirect that page. If users will directly go to domain1.com/pages/help then if that site is up they will stay on that page unless you create a redirect.

I have already created the 301 direction from the domain settings by setting it as primary domain. I reckon this change I did basically took care of all the redirections from domain1.com to domain2.com

Example the old domain with subproduct is linking to new subproduct.
OLD: https://mctasker.dk/products/jaguar-nubuck-vest
NEW: https://cungx.dk/products/jaguar-nubuck-vest

I should be covered in this case right?
