I am very new to Shopify and have a question regarding removing the option of pickup of some of our products.
We carry stock on hand which can be processed as a Local Pick up or shipped, but we also have a range of products that are ship only items as they are drop shipped.
I created a new profile in the Custom shipping rates, but it still allowed the customer to select ‘Pick Up’
But if a customer combines the items with stock we have on hand, we then receive an error message ‘No delivery available’ for the items we drop ship.
I am not sure where i have gone wrong. How do I fix this so the customer does not have to place two separate orders, and is unable to select pick up for these items, or do I need an app for this?
If I need an app can you make some good recommendations, please?
It sounds like what you’re looking for, is a way to:
Require items to be shipped, if at least 1 “ship only item” is present in the cart
Only allow “local pickup” if all items in the cart are available in on hand stock
But I’m not sure I completely understand the problem.
Did this happen when only “ship only items” were in the cart? Or were some of the items in the cart available for local pick up?
If my assumptions are correct, then you can achieve this using Shopify’s new Delivery Customization API.
You can either build a custom app (guarantees your unique needs are met, but requires a developer), or use an existing “shipping customization” or “delivery customization” app from the App Store.
You’ll also need some way to distinguish between the ship-only items, and the items eligible for local pickup. Some possible options are to use product tags or metafields.
Thank you, sorry I wasn’t that clear! I essentially want to remove the local pick up and local delivery from selected items that we can only ship direct from supplier. But I don’t want the customer to have to order items seperatly. Also so the below message does not appear on items not available for local delivery or pick up.
