Okay, this is driving me crazy. Shopify seems incapable of easily facilitating the removal of UK VAT for buyers from outside of the UK. I have fiddled with the settings and I seem to have managed to get my displayed prices to remove the VAT for non-UK , but the text next to the price still shows “INC. VAT”.
It’s a new store using the Athens theme. On the product page, in this example, the price is showing correctly as £82.90 INC. VAT. If I look at the item as say a French customer, it’s showing as €82,95 INC. T.V.A. As I am not collecting VAT on non-UK orders the value is correct (£82.90 with UK VAT removed and then converted to EUR). However, I don’t want it to show INC. VAT or INC. T.V.A. because that is not true.
Ideally, I’d like to be able to show the UK price as £82.90 (Inc. 20% VAT) (£69.08), and then for non-UK orders, remove the VAT at checkout at least but Shopify doesn’t appear to be capable of doing this??
As a workaround, I’d be happy to update the “INC. VAT” text to something along the lines of "UK VAT INC - Removed at checkout for non-UK buyers." But I can’t even find a way of doing this?
Has anyone else cracked this?
