Translating checkout fields manually:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
In the Checkout language section, click Manage checkout language.
Make your changes to the checkout fields
Click Save
Alternatively, you can change your entire checkout language.
Select a new checkout language:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
Scroll down to the Checkout language section.
Click Manage checkout language
Click Change theme language, then choose a language from the drop-down.
Click Save
I am experiencing exactly the same problem. Went to Shopify support, they forwarded the issue to our Translating tool’s support who in turn said it’s a Shopify problem. Stuck in a vicious loop here.
It’s hard to believe that no other Shopify store that sells in more than 1 language doesn’t have custom payment methods.
This needs to be sorted, as the customer experience in the checkout is subpar, to say the least. Customers call us to figure out which payment to select (not a great UX) or just abandon the checkout at the last step because they can’t figure out what each option means.
