Request a quote for products with no price

We use latest version of Dawn theme.

I have tried to find the solution, but I have not been able to find it.

We have products (and will have more of them) where the product does not have a price.
It has all the other options: size, amount, upload file, etc. And OFC. the “Put in basket” button.
But we wish to be able to send the customer a price offer.

So I am looking for a solution to 2 things:

  1. Not having the “Put in basket” option on products that does not have a fixed price. Instead I wish to have the button for “request a quote” that, when clicked, sends me all the selected options from the customer, and gives me the option to send my customer a price on the product.

  2. If a customer wish to buy more than a given number of a product, the request a quote option appears. Giving the customer the option to either pay in the store right away, or ask us for a quote on price.

I hope there are some smart peoples out there that can help me :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @BjornAnd

Did you checked some of the best Shopify apps for your requirement ?

Please check them:

#1. https://apps.shopify.com/request-for-quote

#2. https://apps.shopify.com/request-a-quote

#3. https://apps.shopify.com/request-quote-w3

Let me know if you looking to achieve this without an app.

Thanks

Hi @BjornAnd ,

I recommend exploring the Easify Product Options app that enables you to create custom options for your products. There are various option display types like checkboxes, file uploads, buttons, dropdowns, and image swatches.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to personalize the text on the “Add to cart” button according to your preferences. For instance, you can modify it to say “Request a quote”.

Hey there!

For what you’re trying to achieve, I recommend using the Shopify Quotation App. It’s designed exactly for merchants like you who offer custom or variable pricing.

Hi there! :waving_hand:

You’re definitely not alone; many merchants run into this when selling custom or volume-based products.

Since you’re using the latest Dawn theme, the good news is that your setup is modern and compatible with most flexible apps.

For your needs, I highly recommend trying a Shopify request a quote app. These apps are designed exactly for use cases like:

  • Hiding the “Add to Cart” button on selected products

  • Showing a “Request a Quote” button instead

  • Collecting all product options (like size, upload, quantity, etc.)

  • Sending the info to you so you can reply with a personalized quote

For products with no fixed price, you can hide the Add to Cart button and show a “Request a Quote” button instead. The customer’s selected options (size, upload, quantity, etc.) can also be captured — as long as your quote tool supports line-item properties.

You can also set a quantity threshold where the quote option appears only when the buyer selects a higher amount.

I’ve had to do something similar before, and the setup was pretty straightforward.
If you want something that handles both “hide price” and “request a quote” logic without custom coding, a dedicated quote app usually makes things easier — especially when you need to capture all option data cleanly.
You can try this app Request a Quote & Hide Prices

Hello @BjornAnd ,

I hope you are well!

Basically, you need the request a quote form on product details page. I want to inform you that this can be done with the help of AiTrillion. AiTrillion can help you create the form fields and file upload option according to your needs and can place at product page.

Also, I want to inform you that you can send the automated emails to the customers regarding the details of the product with the app.

Additonally, with form builder you can use various apps like Loyalty program, Reviews and many more with one single app and with one plan with all the reports and analytics.

this usually comes down to two things: controlling when price / Add to Cart shows, and capturing product options cleanly.

A common setup is:
– hide price + Add to Cart for products with variable pricing
– show a “Request a Quote” action that keeps the selected options (size, quantity, uploads, etc.)
– optionally switch to quote-only when quantity goes over a certain threshold

Most people end up using an app for this instead of custom code, mainly to avoid edge cases with Dawn updates and line-item properties.

I’ve done this by first controlling visibility (price + cart) at product/collection level, then routing customers into a quote flow. This app handles the hide/replace part cleanly on Dawn

I’d recommend trying Quotes Guru: RFQ & Hide Prices for this. It can replace Add to Cart with Request a Quote for products without fixed pricing, while capturing options like size, quantity, file uploads, and other customizations in the quote request.

It also supports quantity-based rules, letting customers purchase normally up to a set threshold, then switch to a quote option for bulk orders.

Since you’re on Dawn, it’s a practical app-based solution without relying on custom code.
