A developer submitted a Shopify app for review and inquired about the actual timeline versus the documented 5-10 business days. They expressed anxiety about potential delays and asked if responding quickly to reviewer questions could expedite the process.
Key Timeline Experiences:
Official documentation states 5-10 business days
One developer’s app was approved in exactly 10 days after initial slow progress
Another developer waited 3 weeks for approval
One developer has been waiting almost a month with no feedback yet
Recommendations Shared:
Monitor the Partner Dashboard and email for reviewer feedback
Respond promptly to any requested changes
Contact Shopify Partner Support if the review exceeds 10 business days
Ensure full compliance with Shopify’s guidelines before submission
Current Status:
The discussion suggests review times vary significantly, possibly depending on app category and review queue complexity. Fast responses to reviewer questions appear to help speed up the process once initial contact is made around the 10-day mark.

Hey team, Thank you for taking time to read my post.
I submitted my app for a review to Shopify after developing an MVP that I want to launch to wider community of Shopify merchants. What I wanted to ask was whether I can sort of get a timeline as to when the process would begin, how long would it take in reality. I understand the documentation mentions 5-10 business days, but is there a way I can keep the conversation going back and forth and get it expedited?
I also understand, like me, there would be lots of developers who would want to expedite, but I am curious for the timeline, no issues if it would take 5-10 business days, but I just wanted to make sure that it doesn’t take more than that provided I respond to reviewer questions asap or in a day’s time.
I read a lot about the review process problems, so that just made me a bit anxious for it.
Shopify’s app review process typically takes 5-10 business days, but in reality, it can sometimes take longer depending on the review queue and complexity of the app. The best way to stay engaged and potentially expedite the process is to ensure your submission is fully compliant with Shopify’s guidelines and respond quickly to any reviewer feedback.
To keep the conversation going, you can check your Partner Dashboard for updates and reply promptly if Shopify requests any changes. If your review goes beyond 10 business days, you can reach out to Shopify Partner Support for an update
I understand. As of now it’s been 2 business days for me. I submitted on 9th March, that was a Sunday, so not counting that. I would complete 10 business days around 21st of March or around that day as I can totally understand timezones.
I’ll keep an eye on the dashboard and email for any replies that I would need to give to Shopify.
It did take 10 days for slow process, but once the 10 day mark is gone, they reach out via an email that you can communicate with and expedite the process. Now it depends on you too as you are able to reply fast, they also respond quickly.
For us it has been almost one month. Maybe the app category makes the app review slower. We are still waiting for Shopify’s feedback, it is very frustrating.
