I’m after a solution to be able to track the inventory and COGS of a product bought in bulk and then sold either in the same bulk unit, or in smaller (fixed) unit sizes, with different price points per size - ie. cheaper to buy 1kg bag then 100gm bag.
Can Shopify do this natively yet, or are there recommendations for a simple, inexpensive app given that we’re not dealing with custom/in person quantity sales?
@Filljoy perhaps your solution?
Yes, there are a number of apps available in the Shopify App Store that can help you track inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) for products sold in bulk and then repackaged into smaller units. One popular app that you might consider is called “Stocky” by Shopify. This app allows you to track inventory across multiple locations, set reorder points and receive alerts when stock is running low, and also provides COGS reports to help you better understand your margins.
Alternatively, if you want a more customizable solution, you could look into using an inventory management system that integrates with Shopify, such as TradeGecko or DEAR Systems. These systems offer more advanced features such as batch and expiry date tracking, multi-channel inventory management, and more detailed reporting and analytics.
I hope this helps!
