I am just wondering if there is an app out there or anyway to do the following scenario ( i will also give some context to start).
We are a medical distribution company, and have an ecom business online. We try to keep as much in stock but that is not possible sometimes because of our suppliers and some of our customers will backorder some of their product. With our new SHOP store, we want to be able to be extremely transparent with our customers to allow them to see how many of their items on backorder and for them to order over the qty allowed.
We have been using the button “Continue selling when out of stock” however it doesnt work as we hoped. It stops the customer from ordering more than what is in stock and greys out once they hit that in stock threshhold. . For example if we have a QTY of 2 it will only allow the first customer to order 2 and wont allow them to order over that amount. if they refresh the page or go to their cart it will allow them order more than that.
Even if we get this part to work we want to take it a step further. We want to be able to notify the customer on the product page as well as in the cart that if they are over our in-stock amount it will notify right there with text that “X QTY of SKU is on backorder”. The in stock amount will automatically be allocated and set in the back end and will create that partially complete order so our customer service team doesnt have to manually set the qty amount for a partially fulfilled order.
would love to hear some of your thoughts on this.
