Setting Up Customer Facing Email

Hi Shopify Community,

I have set up Zoho mail and Zoho has confirmed that it is correctly setup. However, my test email returns ‘User Unknown.’ How can I fix this, any suggestions?

I can definitely help you with this! I also use Zoho webmail for my store. A few things to check on is to ensure that you have the correct DNS settings enabled and the right TXT information for your email address.

Please ensure you review this guide from Zoho on setting up your Shopify email: Shopify DNS - CNAME, MX for Zoho Mail

Important notes:

  • The ZOHO SPF (TXT) record is: v=spf1 include:zoho.com ~all. And this record should be combined with Shopify’s record like so: v=spf1 include:shops.shopify.com include:zoho.com ~all.
  • Zoho’s instruction with regards to the DKIM record can be confusing. For example, Zoho’s instructions will say to enter:1234567890._domainkey.merchantdomain.com but entering that as a TXT record with a Shopify domain will result in: 1234567890._domainkey.merchantdomain.com.merchantdomain.com which is incorrect. Instead you should just enter 1234567890._domainkey.

Hello Shay,

Thank you so much for your assistance. I did use the guide and checked through the set up. The problem was that I had not set up the Alias in the Admin Console on Zoho. Once that was done, it was everything worked fine.
