Setting up international shipping

I’m trying to set up international shipping for my new store and am a bit confused with how to do this correctly. We plan to use Shopify shipping and use carrier calculated rates by weight via USPS. We mostly ship to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe.

Under “general shipping rates” I’ve set up 5 different zones: US, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, Asia and Europe and set all to be carrier calculated for USPS. Is this all I need to do? Or am I missing something?

Second question: On shipping and delivery under “packages” it has the “small flat rate box” selected as the default package for calculated shipping…it seems to only allow one default package to be selected. How do I select different package defaults for US shipping vs international shipping. US shipping rates will always be a flat rate but for international it will always be based on weight. If it only allows one package type to be selected for shipping rates to be calculated off of should create a package with the dimensions of our international box and set that as the default since the only shipping that will be calculated off of weight is our international orders. Not sure this makes any sense…if anyone has any advice please help :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @lolanoni

Have you enabled carrier-calculated rates under Shipping & Delivery?

And yes, Shopify provides only default packaging options. To use your packaging based on product weight & dimensions & USPS flat rate boxes you have other workarounds. If you are open to using app/s, I suggest you take a look at PH MultiCarrier Shipping Label App. The app allows you to ship domestically as well as internationally with your own or USPS boxes as per your requirement.
