Setting up my Shopify Website and Migrating from WordPress

I am new to Shopify and looking to create my website and migrate my data from my WordPress site. I signed up for the free trial to get started. How do I begin?

  1. Do I migrate my data over first before deciding on a theme or do I decide on my theme first and then migrate the data over?

  2. I do not see any instructions on how to migrate my data over. What are the exact steps I need to take to migrate my data?

In this case, if you are trying to work with Shopify,
I think you can try to

  1. Export your data from WordPress as a CSV file.
  2. Import the CSV file into Shopify using the Shopify import tool.
  3. Review the imported data and make sure that it is correct.

You can try to use free Dawn theme for test before decided to buy a theme and start build your site

Thank you so much for the tips! I have a few follow up questions.

  1. How do I export my WordPress files to a csv file?
  2. Is that way easier than using one of the apps that Shopify recommends?
  3. I started customizing the home page of a paid theme that I want to use. I have not purchased it yet. Can I import my WordPress data to that trial theme before I pay for it? I want to make sure I like it before I pay.

  1. For detail how to export data you can try to research on website or as Chat GPT, I think you can have detail for that.
  2. I think use Shopify App is a good idea.
  3. You can finish build theme before purchase for it. Shopify theme on Theme store has unlimited trial
